Full Service Design & Manufacturing

Electronics Engineering Services
Martin Company provides a full range of analog, digital, hardware, and software engineering. We design analog and digital hardware, and we write firmware and Windows-hosted software.

While we specialize in difficult, mixed signal, high temperature, low signal level, very low power, high power, and high resolution design, we also design and implement electronic boards for simpler applications. We design embedded processors and/or FPGAs into most of our systems and write firmware for them.

We write software for PCs to test electronic boards and systems and to provide the human interface for some systems. Our expertise in National Instruments PXI hardware and LabView and LabWindows/CVI Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) have been instrumental in efficiently developing these test systems for both internal use, and for our customers.

We also write Windows-based software for applications required of our customers using our expertise in C#, C++ and SQL database management.

Manufacturing
Depending upon your manufacturing requirement, we can handle small prototype and production runs of either through-hole or surface-mount assemblies in house. We have strong relationships with outside production houses that allow us to quickly build runs of 100 pieces or more. We can buy the parts and test the final assembled boards to ensure quality of the end product. We can generate manufacturing, design, and end-user documentation for new or existing products.

Project Management

An important part of engineering precision electronic systems is the task of project management. The Martin Company engineering project management process helps ensure that customers get the designs that they require, in a cost effective and timely manner.

Research and Development

Martin Company provides product marketing research, feasibility studies, and proof of concept documentation. The most efficient way to affect new product development is in the product specification at the very beginning of the project.

Standards and Specifications

Martin Company engineers maintain extensive, up-to-date knowledge of the regulations, standards, and certifications that apply to devices that are designed for a wide array of operating specifications and environments.

Schematic Capture

Project schematics are produced in Protel® 99SE or Altium Designer® and include all parts information integral to the schematic. We use the schematics to generate the BOM and Netlist.

Software & Firmware Development

To some, software (or firmware) development is a complicated process. At Martin Company, we use great people and tools to simplify the process and reduce risk.

Digital Logic Development

We custom design digital logic using field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). Our designs are developed with either schematic editors or hardware languages such as VERILOG™ or VHDL.

PC Board Layout

At Martin Company, our PC board layout standards are a combination of our own internal standards, any applicable customer standards, and IPC standards.

Mechanical Design

Our mechanical engineers and designers custom-design enclosures and mounting arrangements for the electronics that we develop. They also do the assembly drawings for the production process.

Design Reviews

We perform design reviews to verify the specifications, schematics, PC board layout, and test results. Customers are welcome to attend design reviews and may request additional reviews if desired.

Parts Purchasing

Martin Company normally buys parts for each project during the design process in order to verify that the Bill of Materials is completely correct, and that all parts, prices, and delivery times are acceptable.

Prototype Assembly

Martin Company builds prototypes for most new designs. Printed circuit board (PCB) prototypes are preferred for most designs, because they are inexpensive, and they considerably speed up the design process.

Prototype Testing

Depending upon the application, Martin Company tests electronics at temperatures as low as -50° C and as high as 200° C, along with severe shock and vibration testing.

Final Documentation

Upon project completion, we deliver the hardware, software, and documentation to you. Martin Company’s final product is design documentation which can be implemented into a working product for the customer.
