EngineeringStandards and Specifications

Martin Company engineers maintain extensive, up-to-date knowledge of the regulations, standards and certifications that apply to devices designed for a wide array of operating specifications and environments. Here are some of the key guidelines we employ in the manufacture and testing of our products.

American Petroleum Institute

Recommended Practice for Classification of Electrical Installations at Petroleum Facilities RP 500. This guideline provides direction about how to classify hazardous or explosive areas around drilling, production and other petroleum-related facilities.

Canadian Standards Association

CAN/CSA-C22.2 Intrinsically Safe and Non-Incendive Equipment for Use in Hazardous Locations. This standard provides for the Canadian certification of equipment for use in explosive environments. Ignition curves and design requirements in this standard facilitate the systematic design and testing of equipment for these applications.

Factor Mutual Research

FM 3610 Intrinsically Safe Apparatus and Associated Apparatus for Use in Class I, II and III Hazardous (Classified) Locations. This Approval Standard defines for FMRC the US certification of equipment for use in explosive environments. Ignition curves and design requirements in this standard facilitate the systematic design and testing of equipment for these applications.

Underwriters Laboratory

UL 873 Temperature Indicating and Regulating Equipment: These requirements regulate and control electrical equipment for control of air-conditioning, heating, cooking, refrigeration, and humidity, rated 600 volts or less, to be used in ordinary locations in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.

Texas Engineering Practice Act

The Board's role in the protection of the public is to license qualified engineers, enforce the Texas Engineering Practice Act, and to regulate the practice of professional engineering in Texas.

Our comprehensive knowledge of key certifications and standards ensures your next project will meet the most demanding specifications.
