Our Markets

Martin Company is located near Houston, Texas, an international center for many of the industries which rely most heavily on custom electronics. Petrochemical exploration and production companies, communications and other technology enterprises demand reliable, innovative solutions. For over two decades, Martin Company has provided those solutions, developing a real depth of expertise in a wide range of challenging applications.

Well Logging - Martin Company has extensive experience with electronics for the down-hole well logging industry, where circuits must fit inside tubes as small as one inch in diameter and survive high shock and vibration in environments up to 200° C.

Corrosion, Cathodic Protection - Our engineers have completed a variety of projects for the measurement and control of corrosion in petrochemical pipelines and tanks, including cathodic protection, the science of using sacrificial electrodes to protect equipment in corrosive environments. We have also developed instrumentation that makes electrochemical corrosion rate measurements much more conveniently than the traditional metal tab approach. Corrosion measurement and prevention is a major industry in Houston, which is headquarters for the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE).

Seismic Systems - Clients involved in seismic exploration require rugged, battery-powered components with very high resolution and signal-recording fidelity. This industry has evolved from the Floating Point Gain Amplifiers to the Delta Sigma A/D converter to achieve high resolution (equivalent to 24 bits of conversion resolution). Our experience and emphasis on fundamental principles assures the accuracy and reliability of these systems.

Radio, Telephone - Our projects in this field have included telemetry radios for the 220 Mhz seismic band, and several innovative data telemetry systems using off-the-shelf Spread Spectrum-based 928 Mhz and 2.4 Ghz radios. We have also developed a PIC-based telephone line protection device to limit the users of a protected phone to approved area codes only.

Refrigeration - We have designed specialized components for the niche industry that monitors and controls the compressors for supermarket refrigerators.

Subsea - Martin Company has developed a variety of subsea systems. One makes various measurements and communicates those acoustically and optically through water. Another makes measurements at the bottom of the riser pipe and communicates this acoustically through the drill stem. A published paper describes the results.
